Staff

Dr Razak Abubakari Sanda (PhD), Director

Dr Abubakari Sanda has worked in academia for over 15 years. 

He had previously worked as a lecturer and post-doctoral research fellow in many universities before joining Glasgow Caledonian University in 2013. 

 

He teaches and supervises Masters and PhD students on a range of health and wellbeing related topics. 

His research focuses on health and wellbeing of populations, including African and other ethnic groups. Themes within his research cut across Social, Economic, Cultural and Behavioural Issues and how they underpin the health and wellbeing of populations.

Dr Samuel Salia (PhD), Director

Dr Salia has held various academic roles both within the UK and abroad (for over 9 years) before joining De Montfort University in July 2019. He has also worked as a Management Consultant at the Management Development and Productivity Institute, under the Ghana Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations. Samuel has supervised PhDs in the area of finance. His research interest is multidisciplinary with specific focus on diaspora finance, entrepreneurial finance and financial market development. Other research areas include AI investment, entrepreneurship skills development and green finance.

He teaches and supervises Masters and PhD students on a range of health and wellbeing related topics. 

His research focuses on health and wellbeing of populations, including African and other ethnic groups. Themes within his research cut across Social, Economic, Cultural and Behavioural Issues and how they underpin the health and wellbeing of populations.

Pascal Landindome Navelle, Fellow

Pascal Landindome Navelle is a Fellow for the Royal Society for Public Health,UK, a Lecturer at Teesside University, UK (teaches Research Methods for Masters in Public Health, Bsc. Adult Nursing and Bsc Midwifery). Pascal is the Executive Director of Mind ‘N’ Health UK and Ghana (Company provides Mental Health Advocacy, Research, and Consultancy services www.mindnhealthfoundationgh.com). 

Also, he worked as a Nursing Supervisor for the Ghana Health Service, and a mentor at Mentor X Africa. 

He has experience working as part of multifaceted and multicultural teams and engaging with different partner organisations. His skills and research interests are in Public Health Practice, Adult Mental Health & Wellbeing, Entrepreneurship, Health Management, Health Planning, Health Policy,Research Methods, and Mental Health advocacy.

Prof Titus Olaniyi, Advisory Board Member

Professor Titus Olaniyi is a Fellow of The Higher Education Academy UK (a British professional membership scheme promoting excellence in Higher Education). He has also spent many years advising young people and teenagers on how to avoid involvement in gang crime, drug trade etc. He teaches mostly young people engineering at university.

On the subject of Knife Crime, Prof Olaniyi said: “The increasing anti-social behaviour of young people and frequent aggression from youth gangs is a very serious issue transcending national boundaries and hence requires systemic paradigm in addressing the underlying structure for urgent and lasting solutions”. 

Professor Olaniyi is one of the many specialists who talk about about these and other pertinent issues at RDF seminars and events.

Prof. Titus Kehinde Olaniyi is a Professor of Mechatronics and Systems Engineering. He was the Deputy Provost, College of Engineering at Afe Babalola University Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), Nigeria. 

Research & Policy Formulation: As a Decision Scientist, COREN Registered Engineer, Prof Titus adopts System Thinking/System Dynamics as sustainable decision support paradigm for planning and policy formulation. His teaching, research and consultancy services include sustainability, energy, aerospace, information, communication technology and systems.

Kingsley Ahenkora-Duodu, Fellow

Kingsley Ahenkora-Duodu is a Maths Lecturer at Leeds Beckett University and a PhD researcher in Physics and Astronomy at the University of Leeds, UK. Kingsley was selected as one of the Top 10 under 30 professionals in the African Space Industry (Class of 2019) adjudged by the Space in Africa. He is a trained telescope operator and currently serves as the National Point of Contact for Ghana at the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) in support of the United Nations Program on Space Applications. 

Kingsley was appointed as a science commissioning team member of the African very-long-baseline interferometry (VLBI) network for the Square Kilometer Array (SKA) project which has the largest single radio telescope in Africa: Ghana Radio Astronomy Observatory (GRAO). He obtained his MPhil. in Radiation Protection from the School of Nuclear and Allied Science at the University of Ghana and Degree in “Medical” Physics from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Kingsley is a global space science advocate, space promoter and event organiser. His interest is in astronomy, space science, big data, outreach and artificial intelligence. Kingsley applies his skills and expertise in all spheres of research.

Dr Kumbi Mabwe, Senior Fellow

Dr Kumbi Mabwe is a Senior Fellow of The Higher Education Academy UK (a British professional membership scheme promoting excellence in Higher Education and Senior Lecturer in Banking and Finance. Before joining Cardiff Metropolitan university, she taught at  the University  of Fort Hare in South Africa, Glasgow Caledonian and University of South Wales and worked as a data analyst in HSBC Market Data Operations.  

She teaches and supervises master’s and PhD students on a range of financial services and risk management topics

Her research interests are risk management in financial services, bank management and performance, financial regulation and compliance, risk culture, Fintech and financial inclusion.

Dr Daniel Owusu Afrifa (MRCGP), MD. 

 Dr Daniel Afrifa is a practicing family specialist in the Uk, who is keen in medical education such as teaching doctors, with a special interest in research centred around social, economic and political issues. He has been involved in the NHS and has specialist interest in men’s health, mental health and public health.
